Please review the following one-page document simplifying JES Distance Learning Plan Guidelines. The intent is to make learning expectations much more clear for students and caregivers. We are focused on supporting you, not adding on more stress. I sincerely hope our plan reflects that.

Many parents will still have questions after reviewing the document. Not everything can be addressed on one page. So I plan to make myself available via Google Meets at the following dates and times. Feel free to pop in to any of these virtual meetings to ask questions, express concerns, and problem solve. I will do my best to make our approach to Distance Learning comprehensible to all interested parents. Remember, we’re all in this together!

As similar to other elementary schools in the state, JES will not be issuing report cards for the remainder of the 2019/20 school year. This will have no effect on your child moving to the next grade level. Teachers will share academic and progress data with you in alternate formats. Please feel free to contact me directly with any questions or concerns. I thank you for your continued understanding and flexibility as we respond to the pandemic.

Jefferson Elementary Families,
I hope each of you were contacted by your child’s teacher this past week. Please know we are doing our best to reach-out and check-in with each and every one of you. The JES staff has been working hard to develop new skills and plan engaging and high-interest distance learning classrooms. Our innovative learning model will be ready to go effective April 13th at 8am. By that time, teachers will have communicated student expectations and how best to effectively access our distance learning system. I think you’ll be impressed.
Monday through Wednesday this week, teachers will be putting together Supply Care Packages with materials sufficient to meet upcoming coursework. Packages will be placed in brown paper bags and may include workbooks, notebooks, markers, pencils, and more.
On Thursday April 9th from 10am-2pm, JES families will be able to drive-through our bus lane to gather needed supplies and Chromebooks from the safety of the car. It’ll be as easy as getting a burger and fries! We encourage all families who are able to get student materials this way.
On Friday April 10th, all uncollected Supply Care Packages will be delivered to homes by staff and volunteers. Supply Care Packages will be left on the doorstep Amazon-style. Chromebook drop-off will require an adult home for receipt.
We appreciate your flexibility while we adjust to this unprecedented situation. We are dedicated to serving JES students and look forward to creatively applying new methods to do so. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher or me directly. We are here to help.
